This will be a beatiful and and easy bike ride to see the massive and ancient "El Tule" tree, which is famous for being the widest tree in the world. We´ll also see part of the town of "Santa Maria del Tule", its church and its market. We'll meet in downtown Oaxaca. Then, once we are geared up with helmets and our bikes, we´ll begin our journey to El Arbol del Tule (45 min. bicycle ride from downtown [10 km or 6 miles one way]). We'll ride on a nice bike lane covered with tree shades for the most part. It's mostly flat. During our ride, you'll get to see the outskirts of the city, beautiful hills, and a few fields. Once we arrive to Santa Maria del Tule, we'll go directly to see El Tule tree, the colorful church and the beautiful lush gardens. We'll spend about 30 min. here (if you need more time that's fine). Then, we'll go to the handicrafts market and the food market where we'll spend around 30 min. checking out the market shops, going to the restroom, and getting something to eat. We'll start our ride back to Oaxaca. *Contact me if you prefer a different date or time. **The timing is estimated. It can be adjusted to the group´s pace. ***Check out my hiking trip to the "Pueblos Mancomunados" in the Sierra Norte region. Click on my profile.
I am an active person who loves biking and frequently ride my bike to visit different sites in Oaxaca. I love taking people on this route because it is a unique way to experience and see the beautiful town of "Santa Maria del Tule" which is known for its massive and ancient tree "El Tule" and also to have an active day. My goal is to provide you with an unforgettable experience. I would love to share this experience with you. I was born and raised in Oaxaca. I have lived abroad (in the USA) during my college years and I have also traveled to several countries. On my travels, I have experienced the need of local experts who can show you those "hidden gems", the sites that are off the beaten path in unique ways.

The road we'll take is mainly used by locals so you'll get to see more about authentic Oaxaca and the outskirts of the city. El Tule tree is located inside a gated churchyard in the picturesque town of Santa Maria del Tule. It is the widest tree in the world. It's 40 meters in height, 58 meters in circumference, and about 2,000 years old. The Baroque-style church is called Templo de Santa María de la Asunción and dates from the 18th century.
