Are you trying to get your aging family member onto social media? Let me help!
We’ll begin with an introductory chat at a local organic coffee shop. A cup of bird-friendly coffee or tea and a home-made goodie will be my treat, as we get to know one another a little. This is also a great chance to get your parent/grandparent/aunt set up with an Instagram account, if they don’t already have one. (Don’t worry, I will guide them through each step, and we can trouble shoot together!)
Then we’ll head outside and take a few photos along Toronto’s beautiful waterfront. Whether it’s a breezy summer day or a crisp, cool, winter wonderland, we’ll soon have some gorgeous photos to share with friends and family.
Next, we’ll head back to my place nearby for some free wifi, so that we can edit, upload and share their photos with the world (or just their inner circle, if they prefer!) Over a refreshing drink (water, tea or juice), I’ll show them how to craft a catchy caption and create their own hashtags.
Finally, we’ll explore the ‘gram a little, to find others with similar interests and hobbies.
Social media can be a wonderful place to make new friends, and I’m excited to share both the expressive and the receptive aspects of Instagram. Ask as many questions as they want while we’re working together... this experience is all about getting them online and building their tech savvy!
Other things to note
This experience is open to all; English language learners and LGBTQ+ folks are particularly welcome! Please reach out if you have any questions, or if you prefer a different date or meeting location. I want to make your learning experience an enjoyable one, and will do my best to accommodate.

I’m a certified teacher with a wide range of educational experiences. Having worked with students of all ages, I particularly enjoy sharing the joys of photography and social networking with folks who are newer to digital technology.
This past summer, I taught a course called “Getting Started with Instagram” at my local library - it was a big hit, especially with seniors, who wanted to share photos with their children and grandkids on social media, but weren’t sure where to begin.
No matter your experience or skill level, I look forward to increasing your tech-savvy in an inviting, inclusive, low-threat environment!

We’ll meet in Toronto’s south west end, at one of the city’s best kept secrets! After an introductory coffee chat and mini-lesson, we’ll head outside to snap some photos along the waterfront. Finally, we’ll walk over to my apartment nearby to edit and upload our photos, and to share some additional refreshment.
The view of the lake and city skyline from my balcony is quite stunning - who knows, you may end up snapping a few more photos here!

It was everything that I had hoped for, even in the rain....Vera was super cool and I ended up having a one on one session, because I was the only person who showed up on a soggy day, but she went through with the training session. Would defini
