London has some amazing historical pubs just waiting to be discovered. I should know as I've drank in most of them, although I like to think of it more as research! The experience is best for guests that want to enjoy a couple of beers, visit some old pubs and learn some fun history. I'm more Scottish beer drinker than historian! In a unique twist to this tour we will also stop at several locations along the way, a few with a Scottish connection. At the William Wallace memorial in Smithfield discover if he did really shout 'Freeeeedom!' (spoiler alert: he didn't!). Close to the last pub learn about Scotland's national poet Rabbie Burns as we visit his statue in Embankment Gardens. Us Scots love a swally (drink), the pub is our natural second home and is ingrained in our unique culture. We have more words for drinking and being drunk than you could ever imagine and over the years built up customs that can be difficult to work out. As a group of Scottish people enter a pub the first thing you will hear is ‘Whose round is it?’. We just love getting a round in. However don't worry as on this tour I will get all the rounds in! A drink in each pub is included in the price of the experience. Find out everything you ever wanted to know about Scottish/British pub culture, visit 5 historical pubs , drink some beer and discover London's Scottish connection, all on one tour!
Hi, I'm Rab, that's me at the Callinish standing stones on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides, a magical place! I was born and raised in Glasgow where I lived for 30 happy years. The city's slogan is 'People Make Glasgow' and although slightly biased I couldn't agree more! Over 10 years ago work brought me to London, one of the most cosmopolitan and vibrant cities in the world. A city that I love and will never get tired of. I recently founded London Scottish Tours to provide unique experiences in London with hospitality and friendship at the heart of the business. Check out my Instagram & Facebook @londonscottishtours I hope you can join me on a tour and experience a small slice of Scottish culture right here in the capital. Slàinte (cheers!)
All rounds are included! Choose any 1/2 pint (284ml) of beer or soft drink alternative in each of the pubs we visit. Slainte!…
Our walking tour will visit 5 lovely historical pubs including one of London's original gin palaces. Stops include the William Wallace memorial and Robert Burns statue to hear tales from the past. The tour ends close to Embankment underground station.
