Our modern lives can be so hectic & rigid. As a surface designer & meditator I designed this experience to be an antidote to the stress. I guide my guests towards the beauty of creative serendipity, surrendering to life's present moment & move into the psychological wellbeing of the creative "flow state" via the ancient mediative art of Japanese ink marbling. Not only will my guests leave the workshop relaxed & with a new creative skill set they can replicate at home, but with prints & a ceramic drinks coaster emblazoned with their creative designs to take home. The experience starts with a warming cup of tea & a brief history of marbling. After which I guide my guests through an easy to follow group meditation designed to enhance our feeling of wellbeing & prepare us to enter the relaxing flow state of creativity. Following on I give a practical demonstration of the techniques involved in Japanese marbling. Guests are then invited to experiment in the relaxed supportive environment of my home to create individual works of marbling art using all materials supplied. When your ready I will show you how to transfer your designs onto paper. Enabling you to create unique individual paper prints of your work to take away & display, along with a ceramic coaster for your home or office. (I may be able to accommodate group bookings that require a diff start time. Contact me)
I'm a surface designer and have also been practicing meditation for over a decade. I studied at Glasgow School of Art and came across the art of Japanese marbling after moving to beautiful Brighton. I instantly fell in love with this relaxing ancient technique. It perfectly merges art and crafts with the mediative practice of mindfulness.
