I'll take you to the local market the local people often use for their daily life in north part of Kyoto city.This part is well known by the local people and also the students.So You'll feel the lots of mixed energy from this market. We'll go to the special shop for Dashi[Japanese soup stock].I want you to discover what is the Dashi is and how many variety of Dashi we have in Japan.You can feel the passionate of the local Japanese people for their daily living from smelling and hearing how they talk,from not only watching. Then we move to my favorite super market by 1minutes walk.I can show you and explain the seasonal things and what we usually eat and good products in Japan. I'll choose some things for our cooking session later. After the super market,we'll move to my house and cook the basic Japanese home dish. We'll learn how to make Dashi and cook miso soup, cooking rice with Donabe[Japanese clay pot],sweet miso paste and seasonal dish.Sometimes I'll change the menu and use my original recipes depending on the season. You’ll follow the daily living of Japanese real life and at the end ,I think you'll be a part of it at this moment!!
Born in Kyoto.About 20 years ago,I travelled around the Okinawa islands to see their own textiles and lived for a year in the westernmost island named Yonaguni island. Then I traveled to Laos for seeing their textiles. I was learned how to make the local fabric from the local old lady without speaking English.I was welcomed their house and share the meal with them everyday for more than10 days.I think this experience made me to love sharing the different cultures and thought for living.I worked at the several restaurants after that and then finally opened my own cooking class at my house!

We'll meet at the rice cake shop named 'Demachi Futaba'.We will go inside the market and visit my favorite grocery store and buy some stuff for our cooking session and then we'll go special shop for Dashi[ Japanese broth] and explain you how to make Dashi.After that We'll taking a bus,only 4 stops away in the quiet neighborhood of the Shimogamo area.
For the menu, we usually use meat or fish.Let me know in advance for any dietary requirement. We take a bus from the market to my house,ticket purchased is needed.
