We will meet at Fremont Park, and from there we walk to our first tasting at Magpie, a classic California comfort food restaurant. At each stop will sit and enjoy a small plate while learning about the dish, the chef and the ingredients - and the farms those ingredients came from. Drink pairings are included with the Adult + Drinks ticket. Our next stop is The Porch, a Lowcountry Southern restaurant with an impressive bourbon collection. Then on to Lucca Restaurant and Bar for some Mediterranean and Italian influenced plates. After Lucca we move on to something sweet at Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates. Our final stop is Alaro Brewery, a gastropub with high marks for its tapas. There you can linger and have some of their award winning California style IPA. Your guide will share with you insider knowledge about the restaurants and the chefs, as well as the ingredients. Some of the most interesting stories are about the small farms the ingredients come from. Throughout the tour we stop and view some of Sacramento's best street art, including the Box Art Program, Walk of Stars and Wide Open Walls Murals. We walk on flat ground on Midtown's charming tree-lined streets, in total about 1.5 miles. The difficulty level is Easy. The food is vegetarian and kid friendly. Arrive hungry as the food provided is ample. You will have spent about three hours eating, drinking, and learning.
We moved to Sacramento over 10 years ago. I was working full time and commuting an hour each way, every day. Last year, I was at an amazing dinner at a local restaurant with family and it dawned on me that Sacramento truly is an incredible and unique place when it comes to food. It offers some of the worlds best produce and high quality, organic and humanely raised meats. It has attracted chefs from cities renowned for their food, because of the quality of life here. We even received a Michelin Star this year, as well as several Bib Gourmands. I've always been an avid cook and label reader. I'm obsessed with searching out interesting ingredients and trying new things. This deep interest in food and where it comes from turned into my desire to share Sacramento's great food scene with others. My tours are food and ingredient focused.
