Step away from your busy schedule and join me for a couple of hours of mindful making. You're in for good conversation, a tasting board of delicious local fare and getting your hands messy with clay. Don't be nervous about how creative you think you are, everyone makes beautiful things in my classes. I promise you won't be the exception! Even if the last time you used some clay was in high school, or if you've never worked with clay at all. The classes I teach are easy for any skill level. We won't be using a wheel, it's all hand building. You're going to make a small bowl or cup. More than learning technical skills, the workshop is about taking time out for yourself. You'll work with your hands with the clay and as you're creating you'll bring awareness to the present moment that's grounding and peaceful. There's no pressure to create a particular style, I'll gently guide you to create something that you'll love. Shipping is NOT included in the class price, but will be set based on the weight of your piece.
After I experienced complete burnout at my 9 to 5 desk job, I left the corporate world to embrace a slower pace of life. I began to do less but do it better. A big part of my journey to living well was learning pottery. Having my hands in the clay was a grounding and fulfilling experience that taught me to be in the present moment. Four years ago I opened my studio in Fremantle where I make beautiful ceramic homewares that I sell to homes and restaurants around Australia. It's a calming space where I teach workshops inspired by the need to step away from the busyness of our day to day lives. We’ll spend a day slowing down with your hands in the clay to create your own piece. Something that you can use every day as a reminder to enjoy your daily rituals.
A tasting plate with little bites from some of my favourite local providores.
We will enjoy tea and still/ sparkling water during the class.
All equipment and materials that you need to create your bowl are supplied.
My pottery studio is located about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Fremantle, a vibrant place where artists and creatives love to live. It's a space that I've created to be thoughtful, calming and beautiful. It's located in a creative co-op warehouse that includes a café, a plant store and other creative working studios.
If you'd like to keep your piece you can arrange to have it shipped to your home address. You can pay for shipping after the class (I have eftpos / credit payment). It takes 4-8 weeks for firing and shipping costs depend on size and weight.
