You will meet me at my artist loft studio in the heart of the arts district in downtown Nashville. Step 1: We begin by warming up, looking at the emotion paintings I've done thus far to set the scene and show you how I paint emotion. Step 2: Next, I will ask you what you want to paint during your "Feeling Heart" Painting Lesson: "Do you want to paint 1) who you are 2) how you feel 3) how you want to feel?" You will pick one of the 3 categories. Step 3 (optional sharing): We will word map which category you chose. For example, if you feel comfortable sharing or need help determining how you feel, we will map out words: e.g. "happy, proud, invigorated, confident." Step 4: I intuitively coach you to choose color and shape to express feelings through a quick mediation process: "Close your eyes. When I say the words 'happy proud, etc,' what's the first color you see?". Step 5: I then teach my step-by-step process to use acrylic ink and geometric shapes on yupo paper how to paint your emotions/ abstract self-portrait. I paint along side you to illustrate each step. Step 6: After about one hour, the session is complete and you will have finished your painting. Your artwork must dry so you either leave with the painting or I ship it to your home at a later date post drying.
I am an abstract artist that paints emotions based on data acquired from social media, and I crowdsource the data and let people democratically vote for which painting best represents an emotion. I created "Feeling HeART": a feelings chart using abstract art for each emotion. After creating and honing this specific acrylic ink technique ( using color and shape to express emotion), I decided to offer lessons where people can learn to paint their own abstract representation of their emotions. I've hosted individual sessions and group sessions at my studio in Downtown Nashville as well as offered mini lessons at festivals. Since June 2019, I've already coached 30+ people how to paint their emotions.

My artist studio is located above Downtown Presbyterian Church in the heart of downtown Nashville. It's a historic landmark in Nashville. I will show them my studio, the artist studio collective as well as the chapel and historic church attached to my studio that is Egyptian Revivalist style.
No artistic talent or experience is necessary. All you need is curiosity and exploration of color and shape. It'll be an empowering, cathartic experience to express yourself abstractly through color.
