We will greet and interact with the animals and learn about their care and feeding starting with the alpacas, then goats, chickens, ducks, doves, and geese. You will be able to feed the animals, and collect eggs, if desired. Then we will visit and interact with our angora bunnies. You may feed, pet and learn about the care of angora rabbits. You will then see a presentation on steps involved in taking the sheared fleece from alpacas and angoras and turning it into yarn and finished projects.
We have a small hobby farm raising 5 alpacas, 3 Nigerian dwarf goats, 25 chickens, 3 ducks, 3 Toulouse geese, 2 angora bunnies, and 12 doves. We have had our farm for 19 years .. We love and enjoy our animals very much. We like to share our animals with others by helping them greet, pet, feed, interact with our animals and discuss and demonstrate the proper care and feeding of each, and tell you about the animals personalities. We will also demonstrate what we do with the animals fiber (alpaca and bunnies), by sharing how they are sheared, how the fleece is sorted, washed, and spun into yarn, and knitted or woven into home goods or clothing.
We will be visiting our pasture and animal housing and sheds. Wear boots or shoes appropriate for barnyard or mud. The angora bunny enclosure includes their cage as well as fenced play yard. We will be visiting the storage room of alpaca and rabbit fleece, roving, felting, and yarns.
Alpacas, goats, ducks, and more, oh my
