Three hour trips leave three times daily, Monday through Sunday. 9am , 1pm, and 4:30pm. At first, we have time to get to know one another as we go slow past the million dollar yachts of Harbor Island. Once we clear the slow no wake bouys, it’s full throttle on a Navy Seal Team Insertion Boat. 210 horsepower turbo diesels allow me to take you up to 50 nautical miles per trip in search of whales, dolphins and anything else mother ocean wants to reveal. I have my favorite spots near the Mexican border as well as some great secrets to share about America’s Finest city herself. There will be a maximum of only 6 passengers so the trip is very personal and we can usually accommodate custom requests and photo opportunities. The ride is usually quite comfortable; however, I have full body exposure suits for everyone to protect from wind and ocean spray. The smaller vessel we will be on makes quick corrections in the waves as opposed to the slow roll and lurch of bigger ships that can cause seasickness. After an exciting day on the ocean with our marine animal friends, we speed back in to San Diego bay and have a short tour of our Navy Ships! My cousin is a Naval Officer and has given me some unique information about our fleet to share!
Hello, my name is Captain Spence. I have been a licensed Captain for over a decade and have 3 years experience whale watching in Hawaii, Alaska and San Diego EACH! Truth be told, I prefer San Diego water for its unparalleled BIODIVERSITY!! We also enjoy year round whale sightings as well as two rich seasonal migrations of Grey and Blue whales. I have driven all types of boats, but my passion lies in the smaller RHIB boats seen here. These fast and nimble boats put you with in arms reach of my spirit animal, the Dolphin. I have retained a vast amount of knowledge to teach you, but I want you to have fun too. This won’t be a long narrative or lecture, because I love people too and want to learn about where you come from and any wildlife encounters you’ve experienced. Experienced Captains, Kirk & Rick may also be your guide.

Our quest begins near Spanish Landing, the initial camp for the Spanish occupation of Alta California. After an exciting acceleration near the largest aerial Navy base in the country, we will head out to open ocean. Depending on recent sightings we will head south towards the Mexican border, straight west to the Nine Mile Bank, or North toward the La Jolla Canyon.

Sea sickness is less common on this style boat, but if you are sensitive to motion please take Dramamine the night before and one hour before your tour. Sea Bands are a good option as well and can be purchased on amazon or most sporting goods stores.
