Discover the heart of Santiago and have fun in the process. We will start at the seat of the President (La Moneda Palace) and finish at the Main Square (Plaza de Armas). In between, we will visit the old banking district with its turn-of-the-century buildings, walk by one of the oldest churches in Santiago where I will tell you 17th century's "urban legends" related to it, and visit Santa Lucia Hill - the very place where Spanish conquistadors set camp when they first arrived to this area. In order to replenish our energies, we will visit one of the best ice-cream shops in Santiago, which offers some of the typical Chilean flavors, and then we will continue with the last leg of our walk. I will show you (from the outside) the infamous cafés, unique to Chile, where you get more than just coffee served, and tell you about their origins. Throughout our walk I intend to point to you the best spots for interesting photos, and maintain you entertained, until you leave feeling that you have really started to understand Santiago and its people.
Hola, I'm Vanesa, a Santiaguina by choice if not by birth. Join me on our exploration of Santiago's important historical sights, where I will entertain you with some historical and cultural anecdotes that will help you understand more about this city and country. I have been living in Santiago for thirteen years and am shocked that some people consider this city boring. My mission during this adventure is for you to leave knowing that there is more to Santiago than what meets the eye. Finally, as a tour guide, I have walked the streets of Santiago numerous times and I can point out some of the most photogenic spots to you, so you better get your camera ready. :) Let's explore Santiago together!
We will meet in front of La Moneda and continue exploring some of the oldest and most important buildings and sights in downtown Santiago until we reach Plaza de Armas. More than just walking down Santiago streets, you will immerse yourself into the reasons that made Santiago and its people the way they are today, while taking fun photos in the process. I will also provide recommendations about other activities for the rest of your stay.
- We will be walking for about 3 hours, so comfortable clothing and shoes are a must. - Please, check the weather conditions for the day of the tour and dress accordingly.
