We will retrace the most famous section of the legendary Lewis and Clark Expedition into the West on the Upper Missouri River. This river corridor is one of the most remote parts of Montana and is designated a Wild and Scenic River and National Monument. Over the course of 4 days and 3 nights, we paddle 46 miles of pristine, flat water. We camp right on the river at several Lewis and Clark campsites. Experience the river much like they did - undisturbed and magnificent. There is incredible and unique hiking opportunities everyday, including a loop through a slot canyon, to a high vista and natural hole in towering white sandstone cliffs, visit tepee rings and more. Every night we read from the journals of Lewis and Clark and share stories of early homesteaders and the Native peoples who inhabited the area. Most importantly, we enjoy the immeasurable benefits of being very far from noise, lights, technology and crowds. Gaze at the stars from your tent, enjoy silence, meditate by the fire and allow the river to relax you completely. We provide gourmet meals sourced locally and from our own garden. A canoeing beginner? No problem, we provide expert instruction as well as historical interpretation around every bend. Enjoy abundant bird life, wildlife and magnificent vistas. You will be reluctant to leave!

I am the co-owner of Upper Missouri River Guides. Together, my partner and I have been guiding for over 21 years, spending every summer taking small and large groups of people into this remote part of Montana for trips ranging from three to seven days. In addition, I grew up exploring the majority of rivers, big and small, wild and tame, in Montana, Idaho and beyond.
I am a Lewis and Clark History expert and have thorough knowledge of the geology of the region and early settler history. I have hiked countless hours off the river in order to take people on unknown hikes, to undiscovered ruins and secret dinosaur and fossil deposits.
I am an all around nature lover, spending my time mountain climbing, camping, backpacking, biking and skiing and more.
I am an avid home chef and gardener. I provide gourmet meals in a camping setting.
