We will start downtown in Pack Square to learn about the history, architecture, and some of the local legends surrounding Asheville! During our tour, we will be sure to cover all major landmarks like the Basilica of St Lawrence, and the Grove Park Arcade, but we will also go off the beaten path to explore the Block, the YMI, Woolworth Walk's old-timey soda fountain, and Wall St's catwalk! During the trip, I will be providing insider tips on the best places to eat, drink and play for the best prices, including the places where locals hang out for free! We will discuss hidden gems that many people walk by daily without ever noticing an eagle overhead, the faces engraved on the wall, or the secret pathway that cuts your trip in half if it's raining :) We will dive deeper into Asheville's "buy local" culture and what that means for companies who get listed as "sell-outs." Also, we will discuss stories of sabotage, controversy and little-known success stories of previous residents! The final section of our tour will entail a stroll down to the south slope, where my guest will be able to learn about and taste some local brews from one of Asheville's finest, local breweries called Twin Leaf. They will also have the choice to participate in a free raffle where they could win donated items from many of our local businesses that they will have learned all about along the tour.
I am a world-wide traveler. I have lived in 5 countries and have visited 48 thus far. I love to meet new people, experience new cultures, and to try really delicious food and drinks. I have worked with tourism in many aspects of my life but the most significant was the two years I spent in Brazil hosting volunteer groups and planning their itineraries from beginning to end. I learned a lot about what people want to do when they have a limited time to do it! When I came back from Brazil in 2017, I moved to Asheville and fell in love with the city and I have been sharing it with friends from all over ever since. I am involved in many unique groups within the community and have spent a lot of time getting to know the true culture of Asheville and I would love to share my passion with my fellow travelers!
