You will enjoy an authentic 3-course home-cooked meal with a Cape fusion theme in an English home. The dishes I prepare have been tried and tested by me to ensure a great experience. I will explain how spices are used in the Cape dishes I prepare. You will assist in preparing the appetiser which is a vegetarian/ vegan samoosa with a pea and potato curry filling. The main course will be demonstrated by me and is a local favourite -- a bredie (stew) prepared with lamb or beef with assorted vegetables. The dessert is a South African malva pudding with an orange or lemon flavour. Guests will receive the printed recipes to take home with them.
I have a passion for sharing knowledge and have taught cooking professionally, both in Cape Town and Britain. I trained in Nutrition and Food Science and taught Cordon Bleu cooking in England. I refer to my cooking as Cape Fusion because of the incorporation of techniques and ingredients of French, Cape Dutch (Afrikaans), Indian and Cape Malay origin. My husband, James and I love experimenting with organic, vegan and raw foods, to develop recipes for my cookery demonstrations. We are avid gardeners and some of the ingredients we use come from our own organic garden, allowing us to grow delicious vegetables in harmony with the environment. I enjoy sharing this interest and my knowledge of food with others.
