The 3 hour experience begins with a tour of the studio and the gallery. Here you will learn about how to paint with watercolour in a loose style. Examples will be pointed out so you begin to understand how using more water or paint affects the application of the medium. I will have already prepared a sketch for you to paint. I will begin by showing you how to do a technique called wet into wet. I demonstrated this on my canvas and then you get to have a go yourself. The paint is then built up in layers using other watercolour techniques which I will show you including wet into dry and dry brush. Next you learn about light and shadows and how to use it in your painting. I show you how to use masking fluid and we apply and remove it from a painting and learn the different ways it is useful to an artist. We then break for tea/coffee and scones with jam and cream. After our tea break and a little folklore telling we head back to our paints where we move our attention to the main centre of interest in our painting and begin to use some strong colour to define it. Shadows are added and you learn how to put texture and movement into the sea, how to apply different colours depending on distance and foreground. Lastly each person signs their completed piece and it is mounted for them. If the experience is the day session (5 hours) the day includes lunch and a woodland nature walk .

It is located on a 60 acre small farm with horses and sheep in the adjoining fields. The fields lead to a small woodland and to the Fabius Gobbins Cliffs. This is a unique location which is full of inspiration, nature and a sense of peace.
