«Le'ts Explore the Hidden Village In The Mountain with an experienced local travel blogger» We will visit, firstly, Ruins of Engombe just before go out from Santo Domingo West border. This first destination is about 20 minute from the meeting point. Then, we'll take the road to the lesser known St. Martin Porres Catholic Church made of rocks at Las Tablas, Bani. The next stop is the beautiful Las Yayitas Waterfall. To get there we need to leave the vehicle just before the Bani River, to take a ride "by Moto Concho" (Moto Taxi) to cross the Bani River all the way to Hidden Village In The Mountain. There we'll meet to Don Arseno, the pedneous mayor of this small and secluded village. From this point, we start walk through rocky paths to find Las Yayitas Waterfall for 20 minutes. We'll have free time at river, playing around; you can even slide from the top the waterfall. We'll explore also upstream of the hidden river just above the waterfall. At noon, we will share and lunch local food in a humble house of Las Yayitas Village. After resting something we'll get back in "Moto Concho" to the vehicle and then to the meeting point. I am a proudly Dominican and Software developer. I've been working for a bank since 2012, but one day I decided (5 years ago) to kick working stress out of my life and listen my inner voice: “Come on buddy, be encouraged, go outside as far as possible from a computer”. Since that moment, I've become passionate of local tourism, trekking, hiking, road-tripping and hiking. Now, I can share all my knowledge and experience as local travel blogger (IG: @gaurisjav) with other travelers who want to get deep into Dominican Republic. As promoter of social and community tourism, in 2018 I won a National Tourism Business Model Competition with my ecotourism initiative: Tourismove; sponsored by the Dominican Ministry of Trade and Commerce and Taiwan (A digital guide of beautiful places here and connect tourists with local people in communities).
Dominican food for lunch made from local families at Yayitas Village. Avaiable vegan options.
We'll cross a very low flow river river in a local mototaxi service.
We'll visit a colonial Palace at the Runins of Engombe (little-known even among Dominicans) to know better about its history, the St Martin de Porres Catholic Church made of rocks by a Canadian priest and local congregation and finally explore Las Yayitas Waterfall in the secluded and small village with the same name.
