Reading the historical biblical events can be daunting at times. But it doesn't have to be this way, after all, the Bible was inspired by a personal God to be read by ordinary people. However, the differences we find in culture, language, place, and time can distort our view. This tour at the magnificent British Museum presents extra-biblical corroboration for the historical details found in the Scriptures. It is not designed to prove that the Bible is the 'Word of God'. Rather, it is designed to look at the archaeological evidence, as well as modern science to support the historical veracity of the Bible. We start our tour with one of the most visited items in the British Museum. The Rosetta Stone unlocked the ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics. Since then, historians have found out much about the past. Thanks to the Rosetta Stone, we are now able to understand one of the greatest mysteries found in the biblical account of Hezekiah King of Judah. But this is only one of the fascinating stories we will unfold as we travel back in time.
A digital booklet for further studies.
After seeing the Rosetta Stone, we start our tour on the ground floor with the Assyrian Empire, then we move upstairs to see the Patriarchal Period, the Babylonian Empire, and finally the Persian Empire. We then move downstairs to the Enlightenment Gallery where we will briefly discuss and see how the Europeans understood the world in the 18th century, and how this has changed the general public opinion on God.
You will not need to have a deep knowledge either of the Bible or history.
