It’s all about tasting good food and enjoying the great scenery of hidden gems in beautiful B.C. Action begins at Port Moody City Hall. Then, we go to Buntzen Lake Recreation Area and Belcarra Regional Park in a comfortable private car. Take in the beautiful lakes and beaches, moss covered forest, scenic inlet views at your own pace unlike typical tourist groups. We will have a brief stop at the Ioco ghost townsite. (1.5 hours duration). Next, we will head to Old Orchard Beach and hike Shoreline Trail (see Old Mill site, Fish Hatchery, in fall season see salmon spawning) to beautiful Rocky Point Park (1.5 hours). Lunch at Rocky Point Park and museum visit if you’re interested (Boathouse, Pajos, Breweries, Rocky Point Ice cream 1 hour). Head to local picnic haunt the Barnet Marine Park for more inlet views and to Burnaby Mountain Park for a panoramic view of Vancouver. Then to under the radar Korea Town for a visit and for some cultural immersion and food (Shaved ice dessert, Korean Fried chicken, etc.) and head back to Port Moody’s City Hall (1 hours). Bonus activity: Como Lake and Lafarge Lake visit if we have time. Begin at 9am and conclude at 2pm. So bring some extra cash to sample the delicious foods on this day trip. Great way to taste and see a side of Vancouver that’s not on most tour group’s itinerary.
I have been a pastor in Metro Vancouver area since 1998 and now semi-retired. I love the place l am in now and want to share my passion for the area. I do enjoy hosting people, bringing my experiences with the great sights, food and culture of my hometown. I have also lived in Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, and small town in Manitoba and Asia, traveled many places and so l can empathize with being a bit lost in a new place. As a long time resident and food lover l wanted to share with travellers the local hidden gems, restaurants and stories with folks who want a safe and reliable experience that is not found in typical Vancouver tourist brochures. Getting to these hidden gems can be a challenge for visitors and l trust l can provide a unique experience.
Comfortable private luxury car to take you to the locations described.
Nothing like going in comfortable private car like a local at your own pace unlike big tour group hassles. The trail hikes around scenic lakes and inlet, seeing wildlife is pure inspiration. Bring your cameras! The food is outstanding and you can enjoy the views while dining. These are areas almost no tour buses go to as they’re hidden gems that locals enjoy. Friends and family have always enjoyed the experience so it’s time l do this for others.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as we’ll walk a bit outdoors and if’s it rainy bring waterproof clothing. A comfortable light jacket might be useful as we’ll be in shady forest trails as well as windy waterfront areas. Extra cash for food and souvenirs purchases is a good idea too.
