We meet outside the Hilton Garden Inn, before diving straight into Chow Kit market. As we meander through the stalls you will have the chance to try seasonal fruit and learn about the different produce in Malaysian cuisine. For the next 4 hours you can expect a culinary adventure and we will try over 13 different tastings. After leaving the market, we chow down on sate padang as we get into the meat of the tour (literally). It doesn't stop there though, as we stop off at a local gem that serves the best chicken radang in the city, washed down with a refreshing coconut shake. Our next stop takes us for some incredible seafood, presented in a way that may surprise you. We still have at least 3 stops to go at this point, so I hope you have a big appetite. The next two stalls don't have names, but these are places that are known only to locals. The tour finishes off with a selection of delicious Malay pastries. These change depending on the day but can include things like a melt in your mouth rice cake, and a creamy coconut pudding. We will part ways at a convenient subway station and I will make sure you know how you are getting back to your accommodation.
I am born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, and have worked as a professional chef for many years. My good friend and professional tour guide Siddoz shares the tour with me. I want to share my love and expertise for Malaysian cuisine with visitors to my city. The dish that i'm most proud of is my spicy short ribs red curry. I have years of experience working as a chef at top hotels including the Royal Adelphi Seremban, and I have worked as a private chef for the Negeri Sembilan Royal Family. If you are lucky enough to be with Siddoz, you are also in for a real treat, as he is an exceptionally welcoming and knowledgable host.
