AirBnB Exclusive. Only available until 14th February. Playing board games is one of the fastest growing hobbies in Britain. Together, we will explore this exciting new world of hobby board games and combine it with one of the most traditional British hobbies, time spent among friends at the pub. On the day, we'll meet and head to my favourite pub in London. I will bring a whole range of games of varying styles - from futuristic strategy games to quick fun party games. The games we will play are different to mainstream games like Monopoly - they are faster paced, much more fun, and rely less on simple luck. Most games will only take around half an hour each. Depending on your preferences, we will start with card-based games and move on to something a bit more in-depth. Don't worry if you are new to this type of gaming, I will help you learn how to play each game and introduce you to the somewhat secret world of indie board games. No prior knowledge required, complete beginners and board game aficionados equally welcome. Before we meet, I will send you a list of all board games I have, with short descriptions and an indication of the difficulty level so you can pick the ones you are most interested in. We have all sorts of themes available, from ruling a kingdom in the middle-ages to exploring the great American west to terraforming mars. There's something for everyone!
I have been playing board games since before I can remember. Starting, as everybody does, with the classics like Monopoly and Scrabble I discovered the secret world of indie board games during my time at university. I have played hundreds of games now - from tile-placement friendly games like Carcassonne, to mind-reading games such as Dixit, or cooperative strategy games like Pandemic. There is really nothing like this hugely popular, but somewhat secret, hobby. I own a variety of board games and play old and new ones regularly. We will travel to my favourite board game place to play a huge variety of games together in a great and friendly setting.
Board games: From small card games, e.g. Love letter, Set, Trivial Pursuit, Obama Llama; to medium games, e.g. Munchkin,…
We will be going to my favourite board game place in London. Board games cafes/pubs are friendly and inviting, so regardless of how many are in a group we should be able to play bigger/longer games if preferred! Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available. Welcome to bring your own food if you like, too.
Don't worry if you've never played any board games before - the level of difficulty is up to you. I will be teaching you the games we play so unless it's something very specific and difficult that you want to try, don't worry about knowing how to play in advance.
