We will welcome our guests in the Murano studio, where many of our crafts and contemporary art works are exhibited. After a first presentation of what we do, we will illustrate to the guests the technique practiced by Andrea, the lampworking of the glass, which is carried out with a small flame and which is used to produce small glass objects. After a first demonstration made by Andrea, in which the glass rods will melt to show how small objects are produced, the guests will be guided towards the production of some simple glass elements (mainly small colored beads). The artifacts that guests will be able to produce can be brought home. For those who do not want to work directly with fire, assembly activities of semi-washed elements can be proposed, with the technique used by Murano women in the past, "insedà", through which flowers or other natural elements can be made.
I have lived in Venice for more than twenty years, I have studied literature and theater here, which I have practiced for a long time. Now I teach Italian and work with my husband Andrea in contemporary art, we have been a duo for ten years. Together we create installations and conceptual works mainly in glass, a material that I have learned to know and love. This experience is conducted by him, an expert master in lampworking, an activity he has been practicing for at least twenty years. He taught at the Abate Zanetti glass school, in the United States and in various institutional contexts. The place where we welcome guests for experiences is the studio where we design and create our contemporary works of art, and the artisan workshop in which Andrea works glass.
Gli ospiti potranno usare l'attrezzatura usata nella lavorazione del vetro a lume (cannello, pinze, aghi...) e gli verranno…
Our Murano studio is located in the northern part of the island, in a less touristy area than the others. We are close to the Church of San Donato, a beautiful monument, and to the Glass Museum. The studio is nestled between a furnace and a woodworking workshop.
Preferably it is better to have an old shirt / blouse that can be ruined, in the absence we can provide one. Better to avoid synthetic clothes, those with long hair should tie them, if you have eyeglasses or sunglasses they can wear them.
The experience is suitable for both individuals and small groups of maximum 4 people.
