Guests would be lead through the flowering medicinal plants garden, where they will be shown and taught which plants they see and what they are used for, as medicine or food. They would be encouraged to smell and taste the plants, as well as taste some of the tinctures made with the plants. All questions about the plants and photographing are welcome. After the garden walk, we will sit down and have a sip of chilled herb tea (the packaged blends would be available for purchase, if desired) and have an herb - based snack. Guests are also invited to visit my herbal apothecary, based in my apartment in the center of Great Barrington where they can purchase herbal products including tinctures and teas.
I was born and raised in Poland where the ancient knowledge of medicinal plants was still practiced by most people in the 1970s & 1980s. Already as a child, I was drawn to gathering and using herbs daily. Ten years ago, after lifelong career as a shiatsu massage practitioner, I went back to school to formally study the uses and cultivation of medicinal plants. To augment my studies at UMass (Medical Plant videography – major) I’ve studied and apprenticed with master Herbalists Chris Marano and Bonnie Bloom. I established my own medicinal plant farm eight years ago, the first of its kind in the Berkshires. I have been tending to around 140 different species of herbs. I also provide my local community with medicinal plants CSA shares, where the members receive herbal products. All are freshly prepared from locally grown plants.
