This is an ideal all-weather experience for groups of friends, and also for families. We'll drive to the market in Vilanova to buy the freshest ingredients, as we locals do, where you'll feel you're maybe the only foreign visitor around! Then we'll drive back to Sitges and you'll cook and eat a delicious paella, together with other delicacies (such as 'gazpacho' or others, depending on the season). It's a hands-on experience by all means, so come ready for that! We'll taste some cava (or soft drinks) and learn about the different ingredients. Altogether we'll simply enjoy the good Mediterranean life! Here you are the link to check train timetable from Barcelona to Sitges (http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercanias/barcelona/) In case of family with children, send me a message to enquire about availability and price. There are cats in the home, but the place is very airy. If you have any allergies, I'll make arrangements to make your experience perfect. Thanks.
Catalan born, I've been an English teacher for 20 years and a passionate about travelling and cooking for longer than that. Mingling with the locals is key to learning about the place you're visiting, and doing it through food and a good chat with a local is definitely the best way. I'll share with you the family recipe that has given me such a reputation among my friends but first, shall we go to the market?
All the ingredients Eveything needed for cooking the paella and whatever other dish (this last one depending on the season),…
Cava Water and soft drinks will be available if you don't want any cava.
Transport in minivan I'll drive you Sitges-Vilanova-Sitges in a comfortable air-conditioned minivan.
From Sitges train station, I'll drive you to Vilanova market, for an authentic experience, frequented by locals in search for the freshest food. Next we'll drive back to Sitges, where I'll share with you the secrets to delicious paella and we'll have lunch by the pool, or in the dining room in case of rain. An experience for all seasons and weather!
If coming from Barcelona there are 4 trains every hour to Sitges, which take 35', very easy to reach. After the paella you can also enjoy the rest of the afternoon in the charming streets of Sitges.
