I'm the co-founder of Holland Windmills and we started doing these tours for the love of Waterland, the area north of Amsterdam with it's beautiful villages, dikes, waterways, farms and typical polder landscape. We feel that many more people should be able to enjoy this but only in small groups so we can take you to off the beaten path places with no tourists. We all have worked as a guide for more than three years, are experts in handling small groups of guests and gladly tell everything about the construction, products and use of the windmills, the landscape, the history, the culture, the folkloric clothing, the floods that took place, the flora and fauna, (old) Dutch customs, norms and values etcetera. In five hours time you'll learn from a true local guide and see for yourself what Holland makes such a unique place in the world!
For each guest a bottle of still water
The entrance fee/ticket to visit an historical Dutch windmill.
- De Zaanse Schans: a unique place in Holland with the typical color green houses and historical windmills. - Edam: a famous village with the folkloric cheese market. - Volendam: a beautiful fishing village with a harbor and view over the fresh water lake. - Marken: a used to be island with a small harbor - Monnickendam: a quaint village that was famous for the smoking of the eel and mackerel. - Broek in Waterland: so peaceful and picturesque!
Please note that we do not take children younger than 7 years old. This because by law they need additional measures for transportation. With the private group tour you can choose a location for a pick up and return as long as it's within a distance of 20km from the Amsterdam city center.
